Being Coachable

To be a great leader you must be coachable. Be willing to take criticism from people around you is very important. If you are in any leadership role I think you must go to the people who work for you and ask the hard question, "What do you think I need to work on?" I also think the same question needs to be asked in a marriage as well. As a leader/husband if you can learn to ask that question and be open to working on the answers God will honor your marriage or what ever leadership position you are in.

Luke 14:10-11 says:

10But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, 'Friend, move up to a better place.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests. 11For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

I found this Coachability Test online

I tried to say No but it didnt happen!!!

I don't really like cookies that much but I love Girl Scout Cookies. When I see them outside a store selling those DRUGS I usually go to another store. I know if I buy some, I will eat the entire box in 5 secs. I went into CVS the other day and when I came out of the store and saw them setting up, I said, "DAAANG IT"!! Then this little girl walked up to me and said "would you like to buy some cookies?" My immediate reaction was to push her down and run but ummm yeah, that didn't happen. So 5 boxes later I put on 50 lbs....if you see the little green girls you better run fast and hard...hahaha!!!

Keep it Real!!

As youth pastors, we HAVE to be experts on the lifestyle of our students!! Just on the home pages of the below websites alone, you will be able to see what is hot and what is not. If you don't know what your students are watching or listening to outside of church you will have a hard time relating with your students. Become Legendary Series

Tonight we will be talking about how if you don't know who you are, you will become like who you spend most of your time with. Genesis 1:27 says that we are made in God's image and he created you to be like him. The commercial said "Are you scared of what I will become....I am scared of what I won't become". Satan's number one goal is to make you think that you have nothing to offer, and he wants you to be miserable, bored, alone and worthless. God, not only has a plan for your life but he has given you the strength and patience to accomplish that plan.

2 Peter 1: 3-8 says...
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 30:7-9

Francis Chan is a stud!! This prayer is so powerful and true but its one of those prayers you have to die to your flesh to mean it. Everything in our world glorifies Money, Power, and Position, this prayer is asking for the direct opposite....WOW!!!

Heart Rate

I have been on a "Mission", sometimes it feels like "Mission Impossible" to get down to my goal weight of 185!!! To do this, my work outs need to be cardio based so I can trim down my weight. I just learned this, but to burn off more fat than sugar you have to know where your heart rate is and that is why I needed a heart rate monitor. Anymore questions about health, fitness, or running 40 miles a day talk to Michael Head!!
